Clunia Syrah is a red wine from the V.T Castilla-León produced by the Clunia winery. This wine, as indicated by the name, is a single variety Syrah.
The grapes used to produce this wine come from a single plot situated in the municipality of Coruña del Conde. The plot spans just over 3 hectares of land at an altitude of 950 metres. Clunia Syrah is made using grapes that undergo 3 different stages of selection; at the vineyard, during the harvest, which is carried out manually; at the selection table at the winery; and finally, on a vibrating table, where grapes that are not sufficiently ripe are discarded.
The grapes used for Clunia Syrah undergo alcoholic fermentation before maceration, which lasts for 3 weeks. Before being bottled, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Clunia Syrah then ages for one year in new French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in the bottle before it is placed onto the market.
The Clunia winery forms part of the Príncipe de Viana group. The winery is located in a region where conditions can make it difficult to produce wines. The high altitudes, hard and arid soils, with a difficult climate pose challenges for the team, who manage to produce results year after year.
